Washington DC Trip Day 3

One of the coolest things I've ever done with my kids. We made homemade kites (they had a tent set up with supplies) and flew them in the Cherry Blossom Kite Festival. We all laughed the whole time!!

Today my boys surprised me by how much they LOVED the White House Visitor's Center. They had this virtual tour screen of every floor and lots of the rooms/gardens in the White House. My boys spent half an hour going through it. They even looked at the floor and ceiling in every room. We watched a video voiced by past Presidents and First Ladies about their time in the White House and what it meant to them. It made me teary and I felt such a sense of patriotism. My boys must've been touched also because afterwards they both thought maybe they'd like to be the President someday. Brody asked if it was possible to be a Policeman AND a President. Then we discovered the kite festival and spent the rest of the day at the Library of Congress. We discovered this young readers room full of books. My avid readers were so happy. After dinner on the way back to the Metro I decided in another life I could've happily been a city dweller. I wouldn't trade my current life for anything, though. I just love the houses! Parker also made sure we got back to the hotel in enough time to watch The Final Four. πŸ˜‚πŸ€A day well spent in my book. πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈπŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈπŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ(seriously, sorry for all the posting!)

Washington DC Trip Day 2

Well, today was all about being flexible and looking on the bright side. One of my boys woke up in the middle of the night to throw up all over the bathroom, but it must've been something he ate because it was a one time deal and he's been fine ever since. We spent the morning at the hotel giving him food slowly to make sure he was keeping it down before we went out. We made it to the Air and Space Museum in time for our IMAX and explored a little bit before heading to Nationals Stadium for what was supposed to be a Red Sox/Nats game. Unfortunately, it was cancelled because of rain as soon as we got there. I think I was more bummed than they were as I bought the tickets weeks ago and have so looking forward to getting to see my Sox play. 😒We made the best of it and went back to the museums. We spent the rest of the day seeing all that we missed at both the Air and Space Museum and Natural History Museum. We are getting quite good at finding our way around on the Metro. πŸš‡I actually think the most exciting part of my boys' day was that I bought them their own umbrellas for the pouring rain. You know we live in a place you don't have to walk in the rain too much because it was like they'd never seen one before. They were hilarious!
