The time around Capri's birthday was so incredibly busy. We were in between having company and getting ready to go out of town, so this post is a little behind. I can't believe my sweet baby is already one. It makes me so sad that time just keeps flying by. I've heard the saying "the days are long but the years are short" many times lately and I feel like that's the story of my life. I have found by reading through my old letters to the boys that a lot of their personality traits at one were still present as they've grown up. I've had such a fun time looking back at those for the boys, so I am making a point to record Capri's fun little personality. Capri had her well check on her birthday and she was 18 lbs. and 28 inches long. This puts her in the 24% for weight and 19% for height. She's a shrimpy girl!
Miss Capri,
You really have been the sweetest, most mellow baby out of all 3 of our children so far. When the anesthesiologist commented that you were the sweetest baby she'd ever seen, that wasn't too far off. You've definitely stayed that way. You have been very textbook. You slept through the night when you were supposed to, cut your first tooth on time, walked right on time, etc. I don't know if I've written it here, but you started walking about a week before you turned one. Grandma Burden calls you a "little doll" because of your fun personality. You're very easy going and are just fine to go with the flow of our busy schedule. You have adorable facial expressions and always make those around you smile. Your favorite thing to do is wave at people. You wave at absolutely everyone whether they are looking at you or not. Now you've also incorporated a large grin when they look your way or wave back. You are such a friendly baby and make friends wherever you go. You even earned a free sandwich and cookies at Subway with your wave and cheesy grin at the worker men. We may be in trouble with you little lady. You love your dad so much. You often don't let him go 5 feet away from you before you start fussing. You have unique relationships with each of your brothers. You love Brody. He is so sweet to you and you just follow him around everywhere. You and Parker have a funny little relationship. You find the same things funny, so he makes you laugh all the time. You are a good eater, which is funny because of your tiny little body. You were only in the 23rd percentile for weight and the 19th percentile for height at your one year appointment. You love your baths and you love to swim in the pool. You are a crazy person in both! You are distinctly different from your brothers in how you nurture and play with your toys. You still throw things sometimes, but you play with your baby doll the most and you snuggle and hold it like a little momma. Now that you walk, you just walk in laps around the house. Mom is always home base, though, and you never venture too far without me. I love your sweet smile and it brightens my day every single day. I really do feel like you were such a huge blessing and came to our family during a difficult time where we all needed some cheering up. You have been such a bright spot and I don't know how we ever lived without you. We love you Capri, and thank Heavenly Father all the time for sending you to our family. I didn't actually intent to have any pictures taken that day, but I guess I like the same colors on us both because I just so happened to coordinate. About 15 minutes into the photo session she just wanted to be held, so the photographer just told me to smile at her. I'm so glad, because these next two are some of my favorites. I'm so grateful the photographer took them!
