Adventures in Bakersfield

This weekend we went to Bakersfield to see Jared's family before we move even further away (details on that to follow). It was a quick, whirlwind trip, so I apologize to any of our friends I didn't get to go see. We'll be back in June so hopefully we'll be making more rounds at that time. Brody had so much fun playing with his Aunt B, Uncles Sam and Jordan, and Mimi and Papi Randy. They are very good to him :) Here are some pictures.... Oh yeah, this past week I also put my hair back to it's natural color. So, yes it is me in those pictures, just with a little different hair :)

A new trick

This week has been a very exciting one for Brody. He learned how to roll back from his stomach to his back, he started scooting (backwards mostly hehe) , and he decided he could do some fun things with his mouth. He enjoys sticking his tongue over and over making him look like a lizard. He also started making this new sound that sounds like a pig oink. He loves it! He spent all afternoon doing this over and over. So, here's the video. Turn up your volume :) Sorry, I know the lighting's not great, but you get the idea :) Oink Oink!

Rice Cereal

So we know it's too early to start Brody on solid foods, but Brody's Pediatrician told us to start giving him rice cereal once a day to get him used to the idea of a spoon being put in his mouth. Well, Brody has been watching us eat for weeks now and has been trying to get at our food. We thought he would probably enjoy his rice cereal but really didn't know what to expect. When we put it down on the table he got very excited like, "Is this for me?" I put some on his spoon and started it towards his mouth. He grabbed the spoon with both hands and shoved it in his mouth. He ate all of his rice cereal and wanted more! It was very fun. In fact, he got mad at me when it was all gone and he couldn't eat anymore. Tonight he decided he'd try and suck on his fingers and eat rice cereal at the same time....it didn't quite work but he had fun trying!

Still all clean! Ready to eat...
First bite.....couldn't get it in fast enough

Really enjoying chewing on the spoon...making mom laugh

Off to the bath we go!!

The Carseat

We thought maybe Brody had grown out of his screaming fits in the car (he pretty much hates it from he time he gets in to the time he gets out). Well, usually he stops once I stop the car and he knows he's getting out. Yesterday, however, he decided to continue letting me know how he felt about his car seat.....
Apparently he still hates it!

A side note from Christmas

So, funny story. One night over Christmas break my mom told all of the kids to go out to dinner and she and my dad would stay home and watch the babies. We all thought that was a great idea! We went out to El Torito and had a wonderful time. Well, when we got home Shannon and I realized that my dad hadn't come home yet as he was stuck in traffic (he had been called into work up in Van Nuys that day). So, my mom had been left with the boys by herself. Well she proved herself to be an amazing Grandma (which of course we knew already!) For almost 3 hours she juggled feedings, changings, sleeping, and playing. When we got home she had accomplished a herculean task (with these boys anyway!). When we came home we found my mom sitting on the floor with one sleeping baby in each arm. It was precious. It turns out every time one baby would cry he'd get the other one crying. They both kept losing their binkies and wiggling like crazy. To get them to sleep she was bouncing her legs, rocking back and forth, and patting both of their little bums. I'm sure she got quite a workout! So here's to the boys wonderful Grandma Karen! :)

Christmas

Well we just ended a fun-filled, crazy Christmas week. All of my family came to our house in California. We enjoyed each other's company, shopping, the movies, and of course our first Christmas with Brendan and Brody. Here's some pictures from Christmas. I'll have some more pictures when Shannon sends me pictures, but for now these are them! Shannon bought some costumes for Brendan and she let Brody borrow them for some pictures. He didn't mind most of the time! Well, I hope you all had a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
