Two Cute Videos
Okay, so I know you may have an overload of my postings lately, but I guess that's what happens when you're too busy for a few weeks to do any of this. Also, this upcoming week is going to be insane as I prepare to leave next Monday for Christmas. So, here are a couple of videos of my cute little boy. The first one is of Brody's new talent. (just excuse his bedhead) This is what happens when Aunt Shannon comes to visit......
Now I need to preface this second one a little. Brody loves toes. Like, really loves toes. He thinks they are the funniest things in the world. When he was little he used to try and eat any toes he saw around the house (even my poor guests sometimes!) Thankfully I think we're past the eating toes stage. However, he still thinks being tickled by toes is the funniest thing in the world. Well, most kids you can have fly on your feet and they enjoy the sensation of being up in the air above Mommy and the floor. However, Brody can't get over the fact that he's on your toes. He laughs so hard that he wiggles all over the place and you can't keep him up on your feet. My sister caught this one morning (in this one you need to excuse my pajamas....it was the morning of a very snowy day, so we were stuck inside for a while!). I could watch his initial guffaw over and over again I think it's so funny!

The Musick Half Marathon
So, this is a post more for me than anyone else because I'm very excited to say that I ran my first half-marathon over Thanksgiving. I was originally intending on running the Rose Bowl Half-Marathon in December, but due to an upcoming Christmas season and the $100 registration fee for that event, I decided to have my own. My sweet family members were so supportive and cheered me on the whole way. We mapped out the whole course thanks to Google Maps and the Odometers in our cars. Different family members would stand at stations along the way with cheers and water. My parents even had some members of their Ward that I was running by to come out of their house to cheer me on. I normally would've been embarassed but it was about my 10th mile and the encouragement was very welcome :) I actually thoroughly enjoyed the experience and hope to get to do another one sometime soon. I ran the whole thing and finished in 2 hours 28 minutes. Again, not a world record pace, but I was happy to just have finished. I've never run 13 miles before, so I'm just happy to say that I accomplished that goal that I had set for myself. Thank you to my family for being such big supports of me and taking time out of your holiday to drive around cheering me on :) I love you all!!
This is a pre-race picture of the 3 of us. Brody actually fell asleep during my run, so he was just there at the start and the finish, but that was okay because it made it so worth it to see him again at the end!
Rounding the corner for my last mile....at least I look like I'm enjoying myself but the last mile was brutal!

Make a Wish Foundation 5K....and a picture of Brody
Jared, Brody, and I drove down to my parent's house in Texas on Friday night. We got in about 3:30 in the morning but it was a pretty good trip. Brody didn't sleep nearly as much as he was supposed to, but it was okay. The next morning was a 5K race for Make a Wish Foundation that my family was involved in. For those of you that don't know, my family has been granted two wishes from this wonderful foundation: one in 1995 and the other this year. The one in 1995 was for my sister Ashley when she had cancer. The one this year (you probably read about it in a previous post) was for my niece Kaylee (who my parents have guardianship of) who has congenital heart defects that are life-threatening. So, we have been greatly blessed by this foundation and wanted to give back. My Mom, Dad, Kaylee, and Cheyenne all walked the one mile fun walk and I ran the 5K. We raised some money and helped the North Texas Chapter grant more wishes for other families in this area.Just a quick note on Make A Wish Foundation. There was a group there that was called "Caitlyn's Team". Caitlyn was 4, and at the end of August they found out she had an inoperable brain tumor that was wrapped around her spine. The Dr. called the Make A Wish Foundation and told them they were in need of a "rush" wish. By September 5th they were at Disneyworld in Florida. This little girl (and her older sister who is 7) got to spend a week doing what we did: forgetting about sickness, possible death, etc. and just be a little kid. Her Dad got up and said that was the most fun his daughter had ever had. On October 2nd Caitlyn passed away, just a month before her 5th birthday. So in this short period of time that her family had left with her they were able to have a bonding experience as a family that they will never forget because of this wonderful foundation. We are so grateful to still have the members of our family that were (and are) faced with illness, but I know there are many families that can't say that. So I guess it was just an emotional day for us to reflect on the experiences we've had as a family because of Make a Wish and be grateful for the blessings that we have to all still be here together. If you ever are inclined to donate to a great cause, that's one that I'm a big believer in. Okay, that's enough of my soapbox for the day on that, I just felt like I couldn't write this post without mentioning that. On to our pictures. (you can click on any of them to make them bigger...I finally figured out how to do that!)
