Grandma Burden, Trying to crawl, and Apple Juice

This week has been another exciting adventure in the life of our 5 month old (6 month old tomorrow!) My Grandma Burden has been visiting us and Brody loves her! Seriously, if anyone else is holding him and he sees Grandma he grunts and grunts until he can go see her. It's so funny. He missed her a couple days this week because she had a mini-stroke and ended up in the hospital for a couple of days. She's doing much better now though and we're so grateful for that :) We love her very much! This is Brody and Grandma Burden
Brody has also been learning how to crawl. He loves his new found freedom and scoots all over the place. Here he goes!

Now, the funniest story of the week: Brody has been doing exceptionally well on solid foods. Thus far he has enjoyed everything I gave him (even green beans and peas!) Well, this week he was having a hard time going to the bathroom (sorry if this is too much info) so I remembered the Dr. told me to give him some apple juice. So, I diluted the apple juice with water and let him drink some. I have never seen him make such a horrible face--he hated it! He smacked his left arm up and down on on the tray every time he had a taste. It was really funny, so I thought I'd post a couple pictures. The next day I tried peaches and had the same reaction. Apparently while most kids like the sweeter tastes, Brody would rather stick to the veggies. He did well with the bananas today though :) This is how he felt about apple juice:

Cook In Training :)

So Valentines Day for us was a really busy day. Jared was still in Phoenix and coming home at 6:00 p.m., so I had a full day to prepare his present. Since Jared is on the road so much and eats out at least 4 if not 5 nights a week, he really appreciates a good home cooked meal. Well, I really do try, but so far in my life I have not really been a fantastic cook. (funny seeing as my maiden name is Cook) So, Valentines Day I decided to make Jared something he would really like. My Aunt Mickey and Aunt Lori (who is here visiting) have decided to make it their personal mission to teach me how to cook and about food storage. So, we started our day by grinding wheat and making homemade wheat bread. It was actually really fun and it turned out great (thank you guys!) Then I made a taco ring and an upside down brownie sundae cake for dessert. It all turned out great except one thing.....Jared's flight was delayed so he didn't arrive until 8:15 p.m.--well after dinner was served. So, unfortunately he got leftovers, but he said it was the thought that counted :) He's very patient with me! This is me the first time I've ever worn an apron. Call me Chef Cherie (to be)! The day after Valentines Day, Jared was sweet enough to take me to Step Up 2!! I was so excited yet surprised seeing as Jared said he wouldn't even see that movie if we rented it. Of course I loved it! Jared won't admit it, but he liked it too...he danced in the car all the way home!! haha  I love you! Oh, and Jared's company also sends flowers to the wives on Valentines Day, so I got some flowers to :) They were very pretty and a very nice thought :)

This is called a Taco Ring
Side View....the Pepper is kind of falling over haha
The Card I made for Jared from Brody. On a side note....as I sat there tracing Brody's hands and cutting them out, etc. I decided that scrapbooking is just Pre-school for adults! I love it!

WHOA Mom! Not so fast!

Thanks to the 70 and 80 degree weather we've been having here in Southern California, Brody and I have been spending lots of time outside. Remember when I said I'd post of picture of Brody's hair after one of our runs? Well, here you go :) I think he slightly looks like Donald Trump (with a much cuter face of course). It looks pretty much like this after every run. Makes it look like I run really fast! (which is not true I can assure you!)

Another day, another run. This time Brody enjoyed the pace as he fell asleep. Turns out when he starts with a hat on he moves his head all around and it eventually falls in his face making him look like a gangta. I particularly like the one hand up holding on!

You Decide 2008

I was talking to a friend of mine today and she was asking me who Brody looks more like (she doesn't know Jared :) ) So, I thought I'd post pictures from when Jared and I were babies and get feedback. I pretty much know what you're all going to say, but on the off chance anyone sees me in Brody a little, I'd be interested to know! :) P.S. Happy Super Tuesday to anyone who is in a state that gets to vote tomorrow!

A few new things :)

I decided there has been a lot going on lately that I haven't had much time to blog about. So here goes :) First of all I want to say thank you soooo much to my sweet friend Katrena for taking Brody and I out to lunch. Katrena is one of my favorite people and I absolutely love her little kiddos. We went to my favorite place....BJs!! I've looked and I'm very excited to say there is a BJs in Denver. Woohoo! Here are some pictures from our lunch:
Enzo and Brody
Brody very interested in Enzo
Katrena and I trying to take a picture of ourselves
On to another note.....I've been going running with the wonderful jogging stoller I got for Christmas (thanks Mimi and Papi Randy!). Brody comes along with me but he's not quite sure what to think about it. He rides along and just holds on to his toys without moving an inch. I will even stop sometimes and go around to look at him and he just stares at me. This day that I took pictures he has a hat on so you can't tell, but most days when we come back his hair is all windblown. It's quite funny. Some day when it's like that I'll take a picture to post.
Third story of the day :) Brody has discovered that sleeping on his stomach is much better than sleeping on his back. This picture was taken a while ago when he was still being swaddled. We're almost weaned off of that (who knew he'd have a hard time sleeping without it when he hated it so much at first....go figure). Anyway, you'll notice in the picture that he's broken free of his swaddly blanket and left it in his wake at the bottom of the crib. Also overcome was the wedge that we use to prop him up on his side. He likes the upper corner of his crib and he does whatever he can to get there. He's such a little Houdini! Last story of the day....today is Sunday and we thought Brody just looked so cute for Church today that we had to take a picture of him. He's been really gaining weight fast the last week or so. He's looking more and more grown up every day! Here's to our little "future missionary" (thanks again Aunt Kelsey for the tag!)

Oops he fell over!
