Rest of August in Bakersfield

My kids were so happy to get to Bakersfield! They had been looking forward to swimming in Mimi's pool and seeing their extended family. We got there and the kids started school just a couple of days later. We tried to fill our last few days of summer with lots of fun! Jared went back to traveling to Delaware every week and started a new schedule of taking the redeye flight every Sunday night. It was a long commute for several long months for him. He is a trooper!

We were so fortunate to have a wonderful family with kids the same ages as my boys starting a new school in Bakersfield also. The Huff family has 3 older boys and a 3 year old girl (and their mom, my friend Julie, is going to have her 4th boy in December!). My boys hit it off right away with her boys. We had a swim party the day before school started to help the boys get to know each other. I really can't say enough about how the Huff boys helped my boys transition to a new place/school. I will be forever grateful for their sweet family!
How Cannon took in swim days. haha!
The girls became fast friends too! Capri and Drea
 Weston, Brody, Landon, and Alex
Then the big first day of school got there! We were all so nervous. My boys were SO brave, though, and went right to class. Brody said he didn't need me to hold his hand anymore, but that I could still walk him there. He's getting to be such a big boy. Parker tends to be a little more anxious about new things, but he really did great! I was so proud of both of them. Brody has Ms. Chudy and Parker has Mrs. Lephart. Parker said he didn't talk at all the first day, but that the next day he might.

Brody's birthday was right after school started. We had a little backyard BBQ with the cousins and a swim party! He was in heaven.
Cute Cannon and cousin Rowan. Rowan is 15 months and Cannon is 4 months. She may or may not have worn home his 3 month onesie and I'm pretty sure he outweighs her 16 lbs. We sure love you teeny girl!
Somehow this sweet boy turned 9 years old! He had his first ever birthday at school and he loved every minute of it. I brought him lunch and this little girl came and parked herself right next to him. She talked our ears off and sweet Brody was so kind to her. It made my mom heart happy. He is a very thoughtful, bright, responsible little boy. Happy Birthday Brody boy!

Mimi had misplaced her reading glasses. Capri found them and insisted we send Mimi a picture letting her know she'd found them. We got a good kick out of it!
 My handsome 9 year old.
I went to the school for Back to School night. I loved Brody's cute selfie he drew of himself. He's sure cute!
This was on Parker's wall. I love this so much. He still writes ... instead of finishing words if he runs out of space. His favorite food is supposed to say "chicken nuggets". haha!
They all became little fish while it was still warm enough to swim after school!

Capri has rediscovered her love of coloring and spends a lot of time right here on Mimi's counter coloring.
Just my two buddies during the day.

 4.5 months

Easiest going baby on the planet. Capri says she's "dressing him up". For some reason he just lets her!
She has also discovered playing "house" with her toys. Woody gets tucked in and frequently snoozes on the couch.
Last night I listened to Jim Gaffigan's "4 kids" bit for the first time. I laughed so hard at the accuracy of his description of bedtime. I was about at my wits end so I went in my room so I could talk to Jared on the phone for a minute before he went to bed (this 3 hours time change all week is annoying). Anyway, we were laughing and shaking our heads at how hard this parenting thing is sometimes as I had left my kids running will and fighting. When I got off the phone and came out, this was the scene I saw. Ha!! What?!! I guess the solution to crazy witching hour is to give myself a timeout. Just wanted to remember this scene of calm of the many times that our house is so far from this!
Epic water balloon fight with the Huffs!

Our new version of Friday Night Lights. Parker joined a new soccer team and I think that was harder for him than starting at a new school. He played with the same soccer team since he was 3, so he was pretty nervous about it! Thankfully he adapted just fine and had a lot of fun!
Look Aunt Ash! I can stick out my tongue!
 Elsa for church!
 Big sister was here...

My darling view which I watch the big kids swim. Chubby little piggies.
Cutest little welcoming committee for the first time waiting for the boys to ride the bus!
Cannon is my snuggle bug. He'll nap in his bed for a while and wake up. If I pick him up and snuggle him he'll sleep another hour plus. At night he usually sleeps in his bed until about 4 a.m. and then ends up in my bed until morning. Creating a monster? Possibly. But he's my last baby and I'm enjoying every. single. snuggle. #caboosebaby
