June!

Miss Capri is getting bigger all the time. She still loves her dad, but has also decided she wants to be mom's buddy. She has started crying when I leave and always wants to go "shopping" with mom. We can spend half an hour in one shoe aisle. She likes to try on all of the shoes and gets the best "ohh" facial expression when she sees one she likes. She says, "cuuuute!" Her vocabulary is increasing exponentially. It seems like she took a while to start talking, but not she's putting things together all the time and she fully communicates. I'm so grateful for that, because I think it alleviates a lot of the frustration that can be common in kids her age. She loves to play with her brothers and friends. She tends to get along a little better with boys that are her peers. Not surprising since she's used to playing with her two big brothers. She really is a little angel. Jared and I talk every night about what a joy she is in our family. No child is perfect, but she's got to be pretty close! We just love her to pieces. She really does make all of us happy. Her favorite songs are "Twinkle, twinkle little star" and "I am like a star shining brightly." When I rock her before she goes to sleep, she'll take her pinky out and say "star" even though she knows what songs I'm singing. It's one of my favorite parts of the day. I love to just slow down and snuggle my baby. I can't believe she's almost 2! It seems like she's been a part of our family forever. We love you Capri!
Cathy helped me put together a flower pot when she was here in April. Look! I haven't killed all of it! Thank you month of rain. ha! Hooray. I really do love flowers, so I'm grateful to have found a way to have them here in Texas that the wild bunnies around us can't eat. It's a problem!
This is what I had to wake up almost every single day of the school year. This was taken the last day of school. I cheered for her that she would get to take a nap as long as she wants for a few months. She's a good sport, but it was so hard to wake up this sweet, sleeping face!
Running errands with Mom while we get ready for our big summer road trip...
95 degrees. June. Parker. Snow boots? Oh boy.
Not only did he wear snow boots for the entire day, but he had tall socks on under them. His little cheeks were so red the whole day, but I was trying to teach him some natural consequences as to why we don't wear snow boots in the summer. Not sure it worked, though. He thought it was pretty funny! This is also the story of my life lately. My errands take twice as long because of the random places we stop so Parker's action figures can play "Ninja Warrior" on whatever surface he finds that he can make an obstacle course on. Funny boy!

The lounging Capri photobomb makes me laugh. :)
Brody also had his end of year parties. The school had a BMX show come in the morning and then snow cones in the afternoon. I didn't love Brody's teacher this year, so I am SO happy this year is done. I'm praying next year goes better! This is Brody and his friend, Alex.
I am loving that Capri has so many little friends her age. Meet Tate Bishop. He is one of my favorites. Really, I adore him. He is the cutest bug and so sweet to Capri. They play really, really well together. They went back and forth on this little car taking turns for about half an hour. Such cute buddies!
 Teamwork putting a puzzle together.
Last day of school picture! Can't believe my Brody is going into 2nd grade. He did so well in 1st grade and I'm so proud of him. He works really hard at school and always does what he's supposed to. Thank you my Brody!
First day vs. last day of 1st grade. Love the teeth!
Not sure how time went so fast between when he was 2 and now.
Both of the boys finished up their baseball seasons (finally)! Brody got a hit and made it to first base! He also had several great stops in the outfield. We were dividing and conquering that day, so I missed it. I was so bummed! I had to be with Parker at his last game.
Cute little 5 year old T-ball players!
End of season party for Parker's team included a bounce house in a friend's backyard. Capri had so much fun!
 Haha! This face!
Parker made friends with the older sister of his teammate who took him around for drives. Going for older women already, Parker?
He looks pretty happy, doesn't he?
The boys came out the other night proud of themselves for dressing as "twins"! I thought they were darn cute. Notice Brody's little black eye. We're rough and tumble around these parts....or just a little off balance on the playground. :)
Classic daddy play time. Bet you can't guess what's going on here!
Birthday party at Urban Air. The boys had two baseball games, two end of season parties, and two birthday parties all on the same day. Mom was exhausted with a capital "E"!

 Relaxing after the craziness:

We look just a little alike. :)
Just a screenshot of the best instagram post I've seen in a while. I can't believe Ash has been cancer free for 17 years! What a bandwagon to be on.
I am so, so lucky to have wonderful friends here in Texas. There are some things about Texas that I don't love, but the people are not one of them. These are some of my favorite girls. We get together about once a week for a girl's night after our kids go to bed. I've learned so much and grown from getting to be their friend. I should've taken a picture at my birthday dinner I had last night, because I got to go out with 8 of my other favorite people (only 2 overlap with this group). Seriously, so blessed! For memory sake, my birthday dinner included Rachael, Lindy, Katie, Lindsay Christofferson, Stephanie Petrey, Loralee, Elizabeth, and Melissa. I love these women.
Katie, Kayla, Wendy, Kelli
Me, Melissa, and Kara (who's moving back to Utah dang it)
Parker continues to keep up the good work of making sure we hit our insurance deductibles. Earlier this week he was trying to jump across the trampoline on one foot and really sprained his knee. He hobbled around on it all day but by the next day he was crying in pain every time he tried to put any weight on it. Back to urgent care we went where we picked up the cutest pair of crutches I've ever seen. I doubt this will be the last time Parker needs crutches. Thankfully his knee was hurting for 3 days or so, but today it's finally getting better. However, both my boys currently have hand, foot, and mouth disease. Oh, and my washer decided to leak all over my laundry room floor yesterday and Jared threw out his back and can hardly move. We are leaving in 4 days for a 2 month long road trip. Stress and I are going hand in hand at the moment! ha!
Thankfully I have Jared to keep me sane. I'm really grateful for him and his patience with me and my imperfections. We all have them, but it's nice to have someone who you feel like is on your team regardless of what those imperfections are. I love him and I'm grateful he's my husband. One of the things that really makes me melt is watching him with his daughter. He says all the time that he had no idea he could love a little girl as much as he does. They are quite the pair. She thinks dancing with daddy is more fun than bedtime any day!

I wanted to get caught up before our summer road trip, and I'm so happy I met that goal! Here we come CA, OR, WA, ID, UT, and CO!!!

The Rest of May!

The theme of May this year really was rain, rain, and more rain. We got something like 18 inches of rain in one month. We set all sorts of records and lots of places had serious flooding issues. Thankfully we did just fine aside from getting a little down from the lack of sunshine.
One day we went out to meet Jared for lunch at work. Little did I know that when we left I was going to be caught in the worst downpour I've probably ever driven in. It was horrible. By the time I got home my teeth hurt from my clenched jaw and my hands were sore from gripping the steering wheel so tightly. It wasn't even all the rain that was coming down, but it was that in combination with all of the standing water on the road that was causing people to hydroplane all over the place. Crazy town!
American Ninja Warrior started again! It was like Christmas morning around here. These boys are determined to train for Ninja Warrior someday.

Excuse the laundry. It was laundry day!
Capri thinks it's super fun to copy the boys and/or run underneath of them.

Going out for our Memorial Day activities. I loved how my little Americana baby looked in her dress, so I apologize for the picture overload. I just couldn't decide! I liked them all. Especially the ones that show her cute relationship with her biggest brother.

 Laughing at daddy

Our mall here in Frisco hosted the Lego Americana Display starting Memorial Day weekend. It was the only location to have it in the whole state of Texas this year. How lucky is that? There were all kinds of historical places built out of Legos. They had scavenger hunts, free play areas, raffles, a parade, etc. It was fantastic, free fun!

Little sister cracks me up. Not only is she potty training herself, but when I put her in timeout she actually stays there! Now she even puts herself in "timeout" when I tell her to! Can you imagine Parker every doing that?! ha! He used to run away, scream, etc. any time I tried to put him in timeout. She just sticks her nose in the corner and waits for me to tell her she needs to say sorry and come out. She's kinda wonderful. It's hard not to laugh at this scene:
The ONLY silver lining to all of the storms we had in May was that we were treated to some beautiful sunsets after the storms. These pictures were all taken one night. The one on the left looking West, and the two with pink clouds were when I turned around and looked East. Beautiful, big Texas sky!
Since potty training herself wasn't enough, she's now moved on to potty training her babies.
 Oh this monkey...

Parker, I mean "Clark Kent", and I had a date at the mall. He told everyone who talked to him the entire day that his name was Clark. I sure hope he has a Kindergarten teacher who appreciates his creativity!

One of the last Fridays before school got out I took Parker and Capri to preschool jump at Urban Air for the last time. It's starting to sink in a little that Parker won't be around all day every day with me anymore in the fall. It's making me really sad. It would be nice if he didn't hurt himself all the time, though. We were only here an hour before he sprained  his elbow and we ended up at Urgent Care taking X-rays. He wouldn't move it for hours. Just a sprain, thankfully!
Capri thinks Urban Air is the best thing ever! I have a feeling she's going to love having mom to entertain her all by herself next year!

We were also lucky enough to catch a Frisco Rough Riders baseball game before the weather got too hot. It was BYU Alumni night and we had an absolute blast. I can't tell you how much I love baseball. It stirs something in me. I love everything about it! I hope I can pass that on to my kids. My Grandpa Cook was a Braves fan who watched every baseball game every season. I think I may have gotten this from him. :) Capri lasted the whole game and through the fireworks! All the kids loved dancing the whole game. Capri and I even made it on the jumbo tron! Such a great family night that I will treasure.

Capri kept asking for "the bear". I took her up to meet him and she wasn't really sure about him up close!

Capri's first fireworks! They made me so excited for the 4th of July. All the kids loved the fireworks...even though it was after 10 p.m.!
Just a crazy picture I took a screen shot of off of someone's FB page. The May flooding was crazy and all we heard about for weeks. Jared even had a hard time getting to work sometimes because of it. Isn't this crazy?
Speaking of Parker starting Kindergarten in the fall, this handsome fella graduated from preschool! He looked so cute in his little cap and gown. It made me a little teary, though, as I imagine that little boy as a big boy in a cap and gown. Please help me to remember to enjoy the next 13 years while he's at home. He gives me a run for my money sometimes, but boy do I love this little guy.

Parker has upgraded his aspirations from being a Costco sample man to being a meteorologist. He is obsessed with the weather and checks out about 20 weather books every time we're at the library. It will be so interesting to see what he really decides to do in life!

Parker earned the award in pre-school for being the hardest worker. They said Parker always finishes what he starts and is the most focused student they have. Afterwards they also told me that they could've given him the little adult award. He kept everyone in line doing what they were supposed to be doing. I'm proud of him!

Parker and his "best buddy" Carter. These two are the only ones from their preschool starting Kindergarten at the same school in the fall. I'm glad he'll have his friend there. Hopefully that helps make their transition to Kindergarten a little easier!

Parker with his teachers, Miss Lindsay and Miss Meredith. He LOVED them and they loved him. I'm so grateful for teachers who love my kids when they aren't with me.
Off to Kindergarten he goes!
